Does being on the lake change the winter risk?

Almost always because the lot has fall and the back wall is the uphill side. That wall is holding back saturated ground rather than simply enclosing the basement, so it takes pressure the downhill side never sees. One wet wall on a sloped lot is a drainage signature, not a coincidence.
Is there a right time of year to deal with a basement problem here?
Exterior work is limited by frozen ground, so the practical window is late spring through autumn. That is also when the evidence is clearest, because the melt has just demonstrated where water arrives. Diagnosing in March and correcting in June is a reasonable sequence.
