The canal is a park. Why would it still wet a basement?
The prism is still a ditch full of water. Filling towpaths and planting grass did not delete the hydrology. A cellar on that terrace can take moisture from the canal side with no storm, because the pool the boats used is still there.
Is a house on the sandstone bench a different job from one on the terrace?
Yes. The bench fails from uphill seepage and cuts in the rock. The terrace fails from the Licking and the canal pool. Treating both as river flooding misses the buried wall on the hill and the industrial ditch on the flats.
Water came up a floor drain in June. Is that the hill?
Usually the sewer. Combined lines on the flats surcharge when June rain and river stage arrive together, and the cellar drain becomes an inlet. The hill is a different stain, on the uphill wall, not a geyser from the floor.
